Sconce Light Illuminating a Stone Wall

Illuminator Lighting

There are a lot of great ways to light the outside and inside of your home. The way that light travels and illuminates a particular art piece is important because the striking effect can make the home feel warm and inviting or sterile. Our goal is to provide you with great information so that you can find the perfect way to illuminate your home.

Sconce Lights

Sconce lights are a great way to enhance the mood of the home. A sconce light is usually put at the front door (like in bible times). It will enhance the look and will also make the home feel more safe because you can see the front porch when you walk in.

The other great place to put sconce lights are in hallways. You don't need glaring bright lights to walk down the hall. You may want to create a romantic or fun mood and the sconce light can certainly portray what you want. Many people like copper sconces and vintage sconces. There is a substantial amount of character that comes from the old vintage sconces. You might want to look at some of the older homes that have large wood doors. You feel like you are back in time and wondering that there might be someone from the middle ages behind the door. Pendant Lighting Illumination Pendant lighting is one of the contemporary lights that are very popular. Have you noticed the small hanging lighting at many bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. In many cases, they are using mini pendant track lighting. The reason is that you can keep the environment rather dim and still light up the important areas really well. It is also a great way to save electricity, but that isn't the purpose of pendant lighting.

The most common use of pendant lighting is to light up food. Do you want to eat at a bar and not be able to see the food. If that is the case, you might always wonder what might be in the food that is undesirable.

Pendant lighting is often used with track lighting. Homeowners use track lighting to light up their pictures, sculptures, bedding, and other areas. It is nice to be able to put the light where you want it. Many people don't like one large blaring light coming at them. Some people are sensitive to bright lights and are turned off that way. So, pendant lighting makes it easy for someone to get the light right where they need it and not in their eyes. The solution works great and is even quite efficient on electricity.

Some of the pendant lighting is actually quite creative. Some of the pendant lighting looks like a flower that is being peeled away a petal at a time. Other track lighting is stained glass in appearance. In fact, the stained glass look is probably the most popular. Some pendant lighting makes several lights look like a flower that has been arranged and put in a vase. Now, that's some artistic lighting.

Rope Lights

Rope lights can be used indoors or out. One indoor application of rope lighting is to install a shelf around a child's bedroom and then to run a rope light up on the shelf that is hidden. When you turn on the light, the shelf will light up. It makes the room look really classy. If you want to go all out, you could paint the ceiling a lighter shade of the wall color and then add spots built into the shelf to illuminate the ceiling even brighter. If you go this route, you will want to paint your ceiling with a montage or something and probably install some really nice sconce molding.

Outdoor Lights

Outdoor lights are often forgotten. The most common used outdoor lights are solar because they are so easy to install. All you need to do is to push them into the dirt. The new solar lights now have led lights and that makes them brighter. That is important because the main complaint with outdoor solar lights is that they are not bright enough.

The most creative outdoor solar lights are colored and shaped into a ball on a wrought iron stand. This type of solar light will sell out really fast.

To install outdoor lights, put spots under trees pointing upwards to illuminate them. Then take the walk lights and put them every four feet along paths. The flower beds should also have lights every four or five feet. You should also have some floodlights to light up the patio and stairs.

Indoor Lights

The indoor lights often forget to properly illuminate pictures. You should install tiny indoor sconce lights that go over pictures. The reason is that the glare will go down tremendously and the picture is also a lot easier to see.

Other art pieces should also be illuminated. Art vases, art sculptures, and bedding are all good items to light up.

In kitchens, many people like to light up the floor and even put lights inside the cabinets. The kitchen and dining room lights are often recessed into the ceiling and that makes them seamless. You can also get more lights put in over a wider expanse. This is a better strategy than simply putting in one light and expecting it to cover everything well.

Shadows and Illumination

When you use one large light shadows are created. The light may seem to be seamless, but it doesn't travel evenly. Some areas will have more light and some less. The farthest away areas or blocked areas will have much less light.

The goal of illumination is to eliminate the shadowy effects and to help people see what really matters in the room.

You need to keep the room décor and theme in mind. For example, a bedroom might be romantic and a study might be serious or funny. You would want different lighting for romance than you want for reading a book.

Home Automation Effects

Nowadays you can automate the home. You might have the lights automatically turn on or off at certain times. You can make the bedroom romantic or bright with the push of one button. Lighting is a big part of any home automations system. For one reason, people just seem to love to see lights go on and off. It makes sense to install lots of lighting so that the automation process is more fun and has more options for you.

Final Thought

The illuminator is not the terminator. The illuminator is someone that makes a concerted effort to light up their home brightly, cleanly, brilliantly, and without unsightly shadows.
